Sak Tz'i '

Sak Tz'i ' (White Dog) is the name of a Maya empire . The archaeologists were first mentioned in 1994. The ruins of a city complex near Lacanja Tzeltal in the municipality of Ocosingo in the state of Chiapas , Mexico , are assumed to be the center. The Plan de Ayutla ruins - also in the municipality of Ocosingo - were also accepted as the center of the Sak Tz'i kingdom in 2010.

In 2018, excavations began under the direction of Charles Golden of Brandeis University . According to inscriptions found in the process , the foundation of the center is in the Maya pre-classical period around 750 BC. The place was then inhabited for more than 1,000 years. Among the approx. 120 buildings of the city identified so far on an area of ​​at least 21 hectares, several temple pyramids and steles , a ball playground , residential buildings, other religious sites and a market square were found. The Plaza Muk'ul Ton - the monument square - was also centrally located.
