Sakya Scripture Pagoda
The Sakya Script Pagoda ( Chinese 釋迦 文 佛塔 / 释迦 文 佛塔 , Pinyin Shìjiāwén Fótǎ , English Sakya Script Pagoda / Shijiawen Buddhist Tower / Sakya Buddhist Pagoda ) in the east of the Guanghua Temple ( 廣 化寺 / 广 化寺 , Guanghua Si , English Guanghua Temple ) in the Chinese city of Putian , Fujian Province , was built before the year 1165 in the time of the Southern Song Dynasty . It is a 36-meter-high five-story octagonal stone pagoda that resembles a tower. It is also known as the "Pagoda of the Guanghua Temple" ( 廣 化 寺塔 / 广 化 寺塔 , Guanghua Sita , English Guanghua Temple Pagoda ).
Their relief sculptures are special. The arhats and Buddha images in various forms of expression all provide valuable material for the study of the art and culture of Buddhism of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Since its completion, the pagoda has withstood typhoons, earthquakes and other natural disasters undamaged.
The pagoda has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China in Fujian (3-149) since 1988 .
