The Salahaddin University ( Kurdish زانکۆی سەلاحەدین Zankoy Selaheddîn ) is a Kurdish university in the capital of the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan / Iraq Erbil . The motto of the university is: May God increase my knowledge . The current rector is Mohammed Sadik. The number of study places is 18,000.
history
The university was established in 1981 by relocating the University of Sulaimani, founded in 1968, from Sulaimaniyya to Erbil . Sulaimaniyya University was rebuilt in 1992 and has since been regarded as the legal successor to the original university.
Initially, the number of chairs was seven: science, agriculture, engineering, administration, art, education and medicine . In 1985 the chair for law and politics was founded and in 1995 the chair for dentistry. In 2004 there were already 22 chairs. In 2005 the medical chairs were outsourced and incorporated into Hawler Medical University .
Salahaddin University is a member of the International Association of Universities and offers PhD, Bachelor of Arts , Bachelor of Science , Master of Arts , and Master of Science degrees . The medical faculty also offers a medical degree.
