Salāt al-Dschanāza ( Arabic صلاة الجنازة, DMG Ṣalāt al-Ǧanāza ) is a prayer which Muslims say at Islamic funerals after the washing and clothing of the dead and before the burial . The silent part of the prayer contains the recitation of sura al-Fātiha , prayers for Mohammed and the saying of two Duʿā ' (supplication and thanksgiving). The funeral prayer is celebrated in the direction of Mecca ( Qibla ), led by an imam .
