Salon international du livre de Québec
The Salon international du livre de Québec (SILQ) is an annual, French-language book fair in the Canadian city of Québec .
The festival, first held in 1999, takes place at the beginning of April in the Québec Convention Center and lasts five days. The Festival de la bande dessinée francophone de Québec , the oldest and largest comic festival in North America for French-language publications, has been involved since 2005 . In 2012, 66,000 visitors were counted at the SILQ; 877 publishers and 961 authors were represented.
Several literary prizes are awarded at the SILQ , including:
- Prix littéraire ville de Québec (Literature Prize of the City of Québec, one adult and one youth category)
- Prix Champlain (for French-speaking authors in North America who live outside the province of Québec)
- Prix littéraire des collégiens (prize for the best work by a student)
- Prix littéraire Adrienne-Choquette (Prize for the best short story)
- Prix Alibis (Prize for the best detective novel)
- Prix jeunesse des univers parallèles (youth literature award in the field of science fiction / fantasy)
