Salvius (tryphon)
Salvius was a slave in Sicily and one of the most important leaders of the second slave revolt against the Romans at the end of the 2nd century BC. Chr.
Like Eunus in the first slave rebellion, Salvius also took the title of king and called himself Tryphon in connection with the Hellenistic kingdom with the Greek name. Later, however, he was more Roman, wore a purple toga and had lictors with bundles of rods in his suite.
After the death of Salvius, Athenion , his strategist , was elected the new king.
