InuYasha - Fire on the Mystic Island ( Japanese 犬夜叉 紅蓮 の 蓬莱 島 , Inuyasha: Guren no Hōraijima , dt. "Inuyasha: the Feuerrote Hōrai island") is an anime film from 2004. It is the fourth of four films for the anime television series Inu Yasha , which is based on a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi . The animation studio Sunrise produced the film.
action
On their search for the fragments of the jewel of the four souls , Inu Yasha and his friends Kagome , Sango , Kirara , Miroku and Shippo meet a little girl. This is attacked by a huge monster from the sea and then saved by the friends. It turns out that, like Inuyasha, the girl is a half-demon ( Hanyō ) and has fled a mysterious island off the coast, hidden in the mist and only appearing every fifty years, Hōraijima. Inu Yasha also knows the girl, since he was on the island with Kikyō over 50 years ago . There are more Hanyō children living there who are prevented from escaping by a magical mark on their back. Inuyasha also bears such a sign on his back from his stay there. This comes from the four gods of war ( Shintōshin ) who rule the island.
Inuyasha and his friends move with the girl to the island to save the other Hanyō and remove the mark on Inu Yasha's back. Meanwhile, Sesshōmaru is also attacked by one of the gods. He also wears such a mark from earlier times. So he also interferes in the fight against the gods of war. Kikyō also comes to the island because she has felt that it has reappeared and wants to put an end to the goings-on of the gods.
Various dangers have to be overcome on the island in order to protect the Hanyō from having to sacrifice themselves to the gods. One learns that the island used to be inhabited by demons like people who lived peacefully together. To keep this peace, the island sealed itself off from the rest of the world. But the gods of war came and disturbed the peace, so that gradually almost all the inhabitants of the island were sacrificed.
In the end, Inuyasha and his friends as well as Sesshōmaru and Kikyō succeed in defeating the gods, so that peace can return to the island.

The synchronization of the film as well as the other three Inu Yasha films was created by Red Planet together with the InuYasha Fan Project (IYFP), an internet fan project. background
The four Shintōshin are borrowed from the four star constellations in Chinese astronomy . Ryuura stands for the blue dragon , Kyōra for the red bird , Juura for the white tiger and Gōra for the black turtle .
reception
The specialist magazine AnimaniA wrote that the film was “a single eye-catcher that burns down one visual fireworks display after the next.” The “animations are not only fluid, but also take place in front of impressive backgrounds. Art director Tsutomu Ishigaki, ..., did a great job. The landscapes are rich in detail, mostly atmospheric and often just breathtaking. ” In terms of content, however, the film does not offer much that is new and is “ quite simply knitted ” .
