action

Inu Yasha's father Inu no Taishō defeated the Chinese moth yōkai Hyōga 700 years ago (200 years before the main story of Inuyasha) . His son Menōmaru is now resurrected 200 years later by a splinter of the jewel of the four souls and seeks revenge. His henchmen Hari and Ruri put Sango and Miroku in, has so Menōmaru a copy of Miroku's Wind hole. They also manage to bring Sango's cat Kirara (a Nekomata ) under their control by means of a spell. A similar spell succeeds in getting Menōmaru Kagome to want to murder Inuyasha.

Menōmaru then achieved his full power by uniting himself with his ancestors who were sealed by Inu Yasha's father Inu no Taishō. This enables him to disrupt the flow of time. Kikyō also notices this and pushes Kagome back into the bone- eating well into the future, from which she cannot return because of Menōmaru's influence on time. So she is separated from Inuyasha. But due to their strong connection to each other, Kagome still manages to talk to Inu Yasha and, with the help of the village priestess Kaede, return to the Middle Ages. At the same time, Sango and Miroku manage to defeat Hari and Ruri and win back Kirara. In the end, Kagome succeeds with her magic arrow and Inu Yasha with Tessaiga Menōmaru to defeat together.

Also sesshomaru occurs in the film, but has no significant influence on the course of action because it does not want to interfere in the affairs of his half brother Inuyasha. However, it is the first time that he meets and speaks to Kikyō.

reception

From journal AnimaniA was Inuyasha - Affections Touching Across Time named best anime feature film in 2005.

According to AnimaniA, the film promises “fantastic fantasy entertainment with a good level of animation” and “typical InuYasha entertainment with plenty of demonic action and humorous and romantic interludes - without, however, targeting too much depth in terms of content. Overall, the movie therefore looks more like a fantastic episode that extends over an hour and a half than a full-length feature film with an innovative story. ” However, it offers “ wonderful backgrounds and, above all, some spectacular, very fast animated fight scenes. ”
