Salzburg naive

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The artist group Salzburger Naive was formed in October 1973 on the occasion of the exhibition “Naive Painting in Salzburg” in the Salzburg Künstlerhaus in the Grödinger Galerie Sazenhofen.

Only women belonged to this artists' association, albeit with a wide range of ages. Members to be named are Alice Cermak, Helga Müller, Doris Pacher, Erna Pliem, Maria de Posz, Eva Röttenbacher, Ilse Sprohar, Trude Engelsberger-Driolis and Irene Sazenhofen. Some were married to members of Group 73 . Agnes Muthspiel is named as the mother of this group .

Typical of the depictions was the theme of an idyllic, ideal world, "the beautiful is sought and processed poetically, the gaze is directed towards the friendly, joyful". The level of organization of this group did not get beyond an informal status and therefore the joint activities were soon discontinued.
