The Sam Rainsy Party ( SRP , khm. Pak Sam Rainsy or Kanakpak Som Raengsee , eng. Sam Rainsy Party , French Parti de Sam Rainsy ) was a liberal political party in Cambodia and was named after its chairman Sam Rainsy . It was founded by him in 1995 as the Khmer Nation Party ( KNP ). In 1998 it was renamed the Sam Rainsy Party because of problems with admission to the election to the Cambodian National Assembly .

The SRP was a member of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats . She also had observer status in the Liberal International .

In 2009 the party entered into an alliance, the Mouvement démocratique pour le changement , with the likewise liberal-democratic human rights party . 2012, the party merged with the Human Rights Party for National Salvation Party of Cambodia (Cambodia National Rescue Party, CNRP). This was broken up by the Cambodian Supreme Court in November 2017 for alleged incitement to demonstrations aimed at overthrowing the government.
