Sam and the Womp is a British funpop band.

Band history

The trio with the unusual instrumentation wind instruments, bass and vocals joined together in 2009 in London. With a mixture of dubstep rhythm , ska and Balkan pop they played live entertainment music . The head and namesake of the band is Sam Ritchie, who masters trumpet, trombone and saxophone. The singer Bloem de Ligny, who calls herself Lady Oo in the band, comes from the Netherlands and had already released her debut album in 1998. Aaron Horn, DJ and bassist for the band, also known as Aaron Audio, is the son of Trevor Horn .

Sam and the Womp published the song Bom Bom on the Internet, where it received a lot of attention and was eventually used as background music for coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. When the song was released as a single, it went straight to number 1 on the UK charts. It was then used in the promotion of Southern Comfort as well and spread beyond the UK to other countries. The song reached number 4 in Australia. In the USA it made it into the bubbling under charts at the end of 2012 . The two-track CD was released in Germany on May 3, 2013. Even in advance, the title gained so much popularity through its use in the show Germany's Next Top Model that it made it into the German charts.
