Samba stairs
As a space-saving staircase or Samba stairs refers to a very steep, only a small footprint engaging stairs . Each stage is only one side wide enough to occur, this contact surface is respectively arranged alternately left and right and projects beyond the narrower side of the underlying step addition. As a result, the left and right foot alternate with a normal deep step .
This staircase owes its name to the samba , as the arrangement of the steps causes hip movements when climbing stairs.
In addition to the straight space-saving stairs, there are also curved and quarter-turn variants.
These stairs must always be climbed in the same sequence of steps. Bulky goods cannot be transported using this type of staircase. These stairs are not permitted for lounges that are used continuously and as the only access to an apartment. Because of the risk of tripping, these stairs are not approved as escape stairs. They are only used for occasional use, for example as access to the attic . The usable running width of 80 cm should not be undercut.
