Kruse Collection

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kruse Collection was a special collection of Russian coins , medals and orders.

The collector

Albert Kruse was born on January 7, 1936 in Minden . He owns a car dealership in Minden. He has been a member of Münzfreunde Minden since 1969 and of the Westfälische Münzfreunde since 1973 . An excursion by this association to Gotland prompted him to collect Russian coins.

The collection

When Albert Kruse started collecting, the Russian coins were a rather neglected area of numismatics, so that he could buy some very rare and unique pieces. Among other things, the collection contained the largest ever unified holdings of Jefimki (plural of Jefimok ) outside of Russia, i.e. thalers that were counterstamped in Russia in order to be valid for circulation. The collection contained 1,458 lots. The earliest piece comes from Kiev by Vladimir I. It is a Srebrenik minted around 1015 . The focus was on the coins of the Russian tsars.

The collection was auctioned on October 14th and 15th, 2004 in Munich by Gorny & Mosch, Giessener Münzhandlung .
