San Francisco Bay Guardian was a weekly magazine in the San Francisco Bay Area ( California ), predominantly with the left - progressive employed topics. Founded in 1966, it was in inner-city competition to the city magazine SF Weekly , which was founded in the mid-1980s.
The founder and longtime publisher and editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Bay Guardian is or was Bruce B. Brugmann .
On October 14, 2014, as part of the takeover by the San Francisco Media Company (the current owner of SF Weekly ), the last edition of the Guardian was published and the newspaper operations were then discontinued.
