San Giusto (Lucca)
San Giusto is a Romanesque church in Lucca . It is located in the square of the same name.
The church was built in the second half of the 12th century on the site of a previous building. The three-aisled nave is closed off by a semicircular apse . In the 17th century the interior of the church was redesigned in Baroque style and the vault was decorated with stucco work .
The upper part of the main facade is accentuated by strips of black and white marble, to which two loggias are presented in front of the raised gable of the main nave.
The main portal is one of the most important from the Guidetto's workshop. Two twisted atlases each support one of the lion figures protruding on either side of the bezel . The further decoration uses plant and figural motifs.
