San Isabel National Forest

The San Isabel National Forest is a 4046 km² national forest in central Colorado .

19 of Colorado's 54 Fourteeners lie in the woods . Mount Elbert , the highest mountain in Colorado at 4401 m, is located in the forest . ü. M. The forest is divided into two mountains, the Sawatch Range and the Sangre de Cristo Range . Also in the San Isabel National Forest is the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness .

Bishop Castle is located on State Highway 165 which crosses the forest .

11,836 acres of the San Isabel National Forest are part of the Browns Canyon National Monument .
