Schwarzeck Sanatorium

The Schwarzeck sanatorium is a former sanatorium on the edge of the Hainberg in Bad Blankenburg .

The house was founded by Sanitätsrat Paul Wiedeburg (1872-1935) as the Thuringian Forest Sanatorium Schwarzeck. The five-story Camburg building, the huge main building, the hall building and the Schweizerhaus were built one after the other by 1909.

His son sold the Schwarzeck to the National Socialists. In 1937 an engineering school for the Air Force was established there. Towards the end of the war, the house served as a rehabilitation clinic for wounded and unfit for service members of the Air Force.

After the end of the war, the house was used by the Soviet occupying forces as accommodation for resettlers. From 1947 the SED used the house until November 1989 as the Rosa Luxemburg District Party School . The large kitchen also supplied the city's kindergartens. The Hotel Schwarzeck GmbH was supposed to secure the operation as a hotel and location of restaurants. In a settlement agreement dated July 18, 1995, the PDS waived the property. The operating company went bankrupt a short time later. The municipal housing association Bad Blankenburg bought the entire property from the trust on February 1, 1997. From 2000 to March 2003, the Schwarzeck served as an alternative accommodation for the sports school. Klinikbetrieb Störtal GmbH acquired the property in 2003.

There is currently no usage concept. The house is empty and in ruins. A treasure hunt on behalf of the TV magazine Galileo remained unsuccessful.
