Sandy Road stone circle

The small stone circle of Sandy Road (also called Greystanes or Sandy Road West) in New Scone near Scone , in the Scottish county of Perth and Kinross , was excavated in 1961 and relocated to a housing estate.

Originally there were seven menhirs in the ring with a diameter of about 5.4 m . The tallest was in the southwest. In the center of the circle there was an urn with the remains of a cremation in a small pit . Although in a modern setting and surrounded by trees and flowers, this circle gives a good impression of the extent of these smaller monuments, which were built in the penultimate and last millennium BC. BC originated. A formerly neighboring second circle no longer exists.
