The medical group cars (SanGrKW) is a former type of vehicle in the ambulance trains in the German Civil Protection was used. Medical group vehicles were procured centrally by the federal government and made available to the aid organizations. These were station wagons that were mainly used to transport a medical group, including adequate equipment. For this purpose, the ambulance group vehicles equipped with rear-axle drive had eight seats. Functionally, it is therefore comparable to a personnel carrier .

In an emergency, up to two lying patients could also be transported on standard stretchers by simply retrofitting with upgradeable carrying brackets . To do this, the two rear seats in the Ford Transit model had to be completely removed; in the Volkswagen bus, only the backrest of the rear seat had to be folded down and the middle seat turned by 180 °.

The loading according to strength and equipment verification (STAN) 041 "The medical train" included u. a. two suspension lines with carrying bag, eight working head lights, two field devices for artificial respiration , four stretchers, two mountains towels with carrying case, eight medical satchels and eight blankets.

The following were procured in total:

  • 294 Ford Transit FT 100 / VLS (petrol engine) with 2.36 tons of gross vehicle weight (1982),
  • 406 Ford Transit FT 100 Di / VLS (diesel engine) with a gross vehicle weight of 2.53 tons (1985–1986),
  • 2 Volkswagen T3 / 253 Katy (petrol engine with catalytic converter) with 2.39 tons of gross vehicle weight (1987),
  • 83 Ford Transit FT 100 CL / EDS (diesel engine) with a gross vehicle weight of 2.65 tonnes (1991–1992).
