Medical circle

A Sanitätskreis is a community association in the Austrian state of Burgenland .

The medical districts are prescribed by the Burgenland state government . These can also be changed or canceled if the circumstances change. The population figures and the geographical or traffic-related location of the communities are used as the basis for establishing the districts.

Each medical district has a district doctor who performs the function of a community doctor for a larger number of communities in which this position is not occupied in return.

Organizationally, the medical group is headed by the medical committee with a chairman and a deputy. Members of the committee are council members of the municipalities belonging to the district. The number of committee members depends on the size of the member community and can be up to six members per community according to current law. The costs for the administration and the doctor are aliquot divided among the communities depending on the population. The committee members themselves carry out their work on a voluntary basis.
