The Sankai Waterfall ( Japanese 三階 の 滝 Sankai-no-taki ) is a waterfall in Miyagi Prefecture . It has a height of fall of 181 m and a width of approx. 10 m and is part of the list of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan drawn up by the Ministry of the Environment in 1990 . The name of the waterfall is made up of the two Kanjis for “three” (三, “san”) and “floor” (階, “kai”).
