Borrie LSB Kolley , member of the National Assembly, was expelled from the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) on October 10, 2013, and the IEC scheduled by-elections for January 9, 2014 in the constituency of Foni Jarrol in the West Coast Administrative Region . The APRC nominated Jammeh, since no other candidate was nominated, he won the seat in the National Assembly.

Jammeh ran as a candidate for the APRC in the same constituency in the 2017 parliamentary election . With 44.03% he was able to win the constituency before Abdoulie Bondi (UDP) and Ousman Baldeh (GDC).
