Santa Coloma d'Andorra
Santa Coloma d'Andorra (known as Santa Coloma for short) is an Andorran city in the parish of Andorra la Vella .
Santa Coloma is located near the Gran Valira about two kilometers from the capital Andorra la Vella.
Worth seeing
The site houses a historic church that has been on the list of proposals for UNESCO World Heritage since February 22, 1999 . Her picture adorns the Andorran 10, 20 and 50 cent coins .
According to UNESCO, this pre-Romanesque building was built in the 6th to 8th centuries. A Lombard style bell tower was added in the 12th century . The building houses Romanesque wall paintings from the 12th century by the master of Santa Coloma. The image of the Virgin del Remei, which was created around 1200, and the baroque retable from the 18th century in polychrome wood, which is dedicated to Saint Coloma, the patron saint of the church, are listed works.
