The Riu Valira , partly also listed as Gran Valira , is a 44-kilometer-long river in Andorra that flows north-south to Catalonia ( Spain ).
course
The Riu Valira rises in the Andorran Circ dels Pessons , near Encamp , and flows in the shape of a "Y". The two main arms are called Valira d'Ordino (also Valira del Nord ) and Valira d'Encamp (also Valira d'Orient ). They unite in Escaldes-Engordany , from where the Valira runs through neighboring Andorra la Vella and then along the main road from Andorra, Carretera general 1 , towards Spain. Across the border it flows into the Segre at La Seu d'Urgell in Catalonia . Its water later flows over the Ebro into the Mediterranean .
