Sardar Kestay (* 1973 in Duhok , Autonomous Region Kurdistan , Iraq ) is a Kurdish artist .

Life

plant

Sardar Kestay combines traditional motifs with elements of abstraction. He dispenses with a naturalistic style of painting in favor of a dissolution of forms and contours that are characterized by bright colors. Preferred motifs are Kurdish women in traditional Kurdish costumes as well as pictures of scantily clad women, a choice of motifs that is rare for Kurdish standards, whereby the people in his pictures are presented against a background that appears to be surreal .

Cartoons

Kestay draws caricatures of Kurdish personalities from art and politics. His collection of caricatures has been exhibited several times in various Kurdish cities in Turkey and the Kurdistan Autonomous Region.
