Sardis Publishing House
The Sardis Publishing was one of the German-Turkish writers Habib Bektas and Yüksel Pazarkaya established specialty publisher for German-Turkish and Turkish literature products.
Publishing program
The company, which was founded in 2005, was expressly not founded as a " self-publisher ", but was generally dedicated to the publication of contemporary German-Turkish and Turkish literature in Germany. Nevertheless, the publishing program initially mainly included works by the prominent founders of the publishing house, who in their publishing capacity see themselves more as “bridge builders” between Turkish and German culture than as entrepreneurs.
The fact that the publisher was not aiming at material gain, but rather at intercultural understanding, was proven by a possibly humorous statement by Bektas to the Süddeutsche Zeitung : "Less than 5000 euros loss" should be seen as a "success" for this company.
The Sardes Verlag has meanwhile stopped publishing activities, but is still delivering its remaining stocks.
