Sargonids

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sargonids , the descendants of Sarrum-ken II , who was called Sargon II in the Bible, are the eighth and last dynasty of the Neo-Assyrian Empire , which lasted from 722 to 609 BC. Ruled.

One problem of the Sargonids was that legitimation crises were triggered by irregular succession to the throne. None of her first-born sons succeeded them.
To stabilize their power, they used the oath of loyalty that the notables and vassal princes had to swear to the ruler.
