The Sarstedt AG & Co. KG is a leading manufacturer of laboratory and medical technology with headquarters in Nümbrecht in Oberbergischer Kreis .

The company, founded in 1961 by Walter Ernst Sarstedt (* December 10, 1935 - May 17, 2013) in a garage in Nümbrecht- Rommelsdorf with plastic injection molding , today employs 2,800 people in 34 sales companies and 14 production sites in Europe, North America and Australia (as of 2019) . The product range is divided into the areas of diagnostics, laboratories, clinics, transfusion medicine and laboratory automation.

Products

Sarstedt products are used in medical care and various laboratories. This also includes university / industrial research and analysis. The focus of the product range is the S-Monovette blood collection system developed in the 1980s. The S-Monovette enables blood to be drawn using aspiration and vacuum technology. In addition to the blood collection system, Sarstedt produces and sells other diagnostic products and solutions for the collection and collection of patient material. Various laboratory products and automation solutions for sorting, distributing and aliquoting samples are also part of the company's range.

Promotion of science

Since 1986 the company has been involved in researching pioneering methodological-analytical processes. A total of six times the company initially awarded its own Sarstedt Research Prize, endowed with 50,000 DM. Since 2008, Sarstedt has supported the biannual research prize for biochemical analysis of the German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (DGKL) with a grant of 50,000 euros. Most recently, the award was presented in 2019 to the Chinese scientist Dennis Lo for his work in the field of tumor and prenatal diagnostics.
