The Sartre Society e. V. is an association of scientists and other interested parties mainly from Germany , Austria and Switzerland , who deal with Jean-Paul Sartre and his work as a philosopher, writer and political intellectual.

The company was founded in Berlin in 1993 and registered as a non-profit association . It emerged from an informal group of people interested in Sartre in East and West Berlin, which met for talks and exchanges after the fall of the Berlin Wall (from 1990) and which quickly began to have an impact beyond Berlin.

The Sartre Society is dedicated to promoting the study, research and dissemination of the work of Jean-Paul Sartre. In particular, her activities include the organization of conferences, symposiums and workshops as well as the publication of books on Sartre and his work. The Sartre Society regularly publishes a newsletter that reports on the latest publications by and about Sartre as well as events and theater performances about Sartre. It maintains close ties to its partner companies, particularly in France (Groupe d'études sartriennes), the USA (North American Sartre Society), England (UK Sartre Society) and Italy (Gruppo Ricerca Sartre). She is a member of the Working Group of Literary Societies and Memorials .

The Sartre Society is based in Berlin. Its current president is Vincent von Wroblewsky (since 1993), Jens Bonnemann its vice-president (since 2019).
