Saruhi Batojan ( Armenian : Զարուհի Բաթոյան, born on September 29, 1979 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR ) is an Armenian politician of the Civil Contract Party and has been Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the second Pashinyan cabinet since January 2019 .

Career

Batojan attended secondary school No. 44 in Yerevan from 1987 to 1997. She then studied journalism at the State University of Yerevan from 2002 to 2008.

Since 1999 she has been involved in the non-governmental organization Bridge of Hope , which works to protect children with disabilities, and was editor-in-chief of a children's magazine. The commitment to the NGO lasted until 2017. From 2012 to 2018 she was director of the company "Zartprint" ( LLC ). At the same time, she was President of the NGO Disability Info from 2014 to 2018 and President of the National Alliance for the Protection of Disabled Persons (LEA) from 2013 to 2017 .

Since 2017 she was a member of the Yerevan city ​​council in the electoral alliance Jelk until she was appointed Deputy Minister for Labor and Social Affairs in June 2018 after the Velvet Revolution . After the My Step Alliance emerged victorious in the parliamentary elections in Armenia in 2018 , to which its civil contract party was now a member, Batojan was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs on January 18, 2019 .
