The Satanic Bible (original title: The Satanic Bible ) is a basic work of the Church of Satan written by Anton Szandor LaVey . It consists of the four books Satan , Lucifer , Belial and Leviathan . In the book, LaVey describes his worldview , with which he also claims the status of a religion , which, according to LaVey's account , was founded on Walpurgis Night in 1966.

The nine satanic principles

At the beginning of the book are the nine satanic principles that are considered to be the commandments of the Church of Satan.

  1. Satan means sensual pleasure instead of abstinence.
  2. Satan means life force instead of pipe dreams.
  3. Satan means unadulterated wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deception.
  4. Satan means kindness to those who deserve it, rather than love to the ungrateful.
  5. Satan means vengeance instead of turning the other cheek.
  6. Satan means responsibility for the conscientious instead of caring for psychic vampires.
  7. Satan means that the human being is just one animal among other animals, sometimes better, but often worse than the four-legged friends, because due to his "divine, spiritual and intellectual development" he has become the most vicious of all animals.
  8. Satan means all so-called sins because they all lead to physical, spiritual and emotional fulfillment.
  9. Satan is the best friend the Church has ever had because he has kept it alive all through the years.

The book of satan

The German translation by Ingrid Meyer was first published in 1999 by Second Sight Books. The entire text was printed in white on a black background. The Satanic Bible was later published along with LaVey's The Satanic Rituals .
