Satin wood or silk wood and Atlas wood , English Satinwood , is the collective name for various types of wood that have a silky shine when planed.

These include the wood species of various tree species , such as West Indian, Bahama, Florida or San Domingo Satinwood, Jamaica satinwood, lemon wood ( Zanthoxylum flavum syn .: Fagara flava ), East Indian or Sri Lanka, Ceylon Satinwood ( Chloroxylon swietenia ) and Madagascar Satinwood ( Chloroxylon faho ), Asian or Cambodian Satinwood ( Lagerstroemia spp.), Brazilian Satinwood (Brazilian Yellowwood, Yellowheart, Pau Amarello) ( Euxylophora paraensis ) and African Satinwood ( Turraeanthus africana ), African or Yellow Satinwood ( Pericopsis elata ) and Yellow, Nigerian or African Satinwood, African Lemon Wood ( Distemonanthus benthamianus ), or West African Satinwood ( Triplochiton scleroxylon ), as well as (East) African Satinwood ( Zanthoxylum gilletii Syn .: Fagara macrophylla ).

Others are nut satin wood ( Liquidambar styraciflua ) or East Indian satin wood, lemon wood ( Chloroxylon swietenia ), as well as red or Surinam, Guiana, Antilles satin wood ( Brosimum rubescens ) and real lemon wood ( Citrus medica ).
