Bocote
Bocote is the Spanish common name for several Central American tree species of the genus Cordia within the family of Borage Family (Boraginaceae), or a name for the hardwoods . They are also known as Rio-Grande or Mexico Rosewood or as Mexican and Dominican Rosewood . In Spanish guitar making, Bocote is usually understood to be Cordia elaeagnoides . When fresh, the wood has a yellow-brown color that darkens significantly after a short time. The species weight is 950–1200 kg / m³.
An important type of Bocote is Bojon ( Cordia gerascanthus ), its wood is used as tonewood in the construction of guitars . Other species for Bocote wood are Barcino ( Cordia elaeagnoides ), Freijo ( Cordia alliodora ), Louro Preto ( Cordia megalantha ), Ziricote ( Cordia dodecandra ).
