In pool billiards, a sawtooth is a push in which the ball being played touches opposing boards at least twice before falling into the pocket . The name is derived from the analogy to the rapidly ascending and descending teeth of a band saw . The German term "saw tooth" can also be heard occasionally at hobby tournaments, but this does not play a role in league sport.

Due to the multiple contact with the boards, only experienced players succeed in such kicks and, if successful, are honored by the opponent or by the spectators with the appreciative shout of “Sawtooth!”. The safe mastery of the Sawtooth gives the player tactical advantages, as balls can be sunk even in seemingly hopeless positions. Impressive maneuvers are possible, especially through the use of spin .
