Autolux
Autolux is an American band from Los Angeles , consisting of Eugene Goreshter ( vocals , bass ), Greg Edwards ( guitar , vocals) and Carla Azar ( drums , vocals), stylistically rooted in many varieties of rock music .
history
The band was composed of already active musicians: Azar's band Ednaswap had toured with Edward's band Failure , Goreshter and Azar delivered the music for Dario Fo's play Random Death of an Anarchist . After some initial jamming , Autolux first played in clubs for a year before releasing their first self-produced EP with Demonstration in 2001 .
The recordings came to T-Bone Burnett , who then watched one of their live shows. Overwhelmed, he started his own label (together with the Coen brothers ) and went into the studio with the band in 2002 to record their first album Future Perfect . Since Burnett wanted to convey the impressive live feeling with the album and the band themselves wanted to release their debut as perfectly as possible, the recordings were changed, optimized and revised for a year until they were finally ready for sale in early 2004 . Even so, the label was still unable to find a suitable release date for half a year, and when the album was finally due to be released on September 21, a misprint made it impossible. It wasn't until a month later, on October 26, 2004, that the final album was finally released. Highly praised by the critics, it also achieved good sales and also made the band a name with other artists.
A few months after the release, Autolux was hired as the opening act for The Secret Machines , Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age , and they also performed at the prestigious Coachella Festival .
In 2007 they recorded a song for UNKLE based on a simple drum beat . The song was rearranged and eventually appeared as "Persons & Machinery" on the 2007 album.
In 2008 her songs Asleep At the Trigger and Capital Kind of Strain were used in the British TV drama Skins - Hautnah .
