The six holes in pool and snooker are called pockets . These are located in the corners as well as in the middle of the long boards of a pool table . The entrance to these pockets is called the pocket enema. This is straight for pool tables. A round pocket inlet is used for snooker tables and with a diameter of approx. 90 mm, the pockets are smaller than those of pool tables. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has created templates for the exact shape and dimensions of the bags, which are mandatory for official tournaments . In the case of a carom , however, the game is played on a table without pockets.
