Saybolt Universal Second

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Saybolt Universal Second , or SUS for short , was a unit of measure used by oil companies to measure kinematic viscosity . The time it takes 60 cm³ of oil to flow through a calibrated tube at a fixed and constant temperature is measured. Instead of specifying it in seconds, the numerical value is displayed as SUS.

The Saybolt viscometer was used to measure the viscosity.
