ScanRail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ScanRail was the name of a ticket that allowed unlimited use of trains in all Scandinavian countries ( Norway , Sweden , Finland and Denmark ) within a certain number of days at a flat rate . The offer of the ScanRail ticket was discontinued at the beginning of 2008, the last sale took place on December 31, 2007.

When buying the Scanrail pass, you could choose between different variants. On the one hand, the “Flexi-Pass” was available, which was valid for five, eight or ten days of any choice within two months, and secondly, the “Consecutive-Pass” could be chosen, which was valid for 22 consecutive days. In addition to the free use of trains in the countries mentioned, where surcharges had to be paid for certain trains or connections as well as reservations, the Scanrail Pass entitles them to discounts on Scandinavian long-distance bus services, on certain private train and ferry connections and in selected museums.

Until it was abolished in 2008, the ScanRail ticket was considered an alternative to the InterRail ticket and enabled inexpensive travel through the Scandinavian countries. The prices for the passes were graded according to the age of the traveler.
