Scarodytes halensis is a beetle fromthe swimming beetle family (Dytiscidae).
features
The oval body is 4 to 4.5 millimeters long. The top is colored yellow-red. On the wing covers there is a black drawing consisting of mutually flowing longitudinal lines. In males, the underside is predominantly colored black, in females reddish-brown.
Occurrence
Scarodytes halensis colonizes Europe with the exception of the northernmost areas. The species' habitat is mainly still water, but it can also be found in streams. She likes to stay in shallow places with a loamy or gravelly bottom.
Way of life
Little is known about the way of life.
