Schäful means the taking place annually on the last weekend of August, output of several hundred sheep in the area of the Great Aletsch Glacier .

The Sheep Path leads from the Inner Aletschji area , where the sheep grazed over the summer, to Belalp . The pasture area is delimited by the Great Aletsch Glacier and the Oberaletsch Glacier, including the gorge it left behind after his retreat . The pastures reach almost 3000  m above sea level. M.

After the sheep have been herded together on the days before the Schäful, the passage of the Oberaletsch Gorge on a path blasted into the rock and over a suspension bridge forms the first spectacular part of the path. After several hours, the sheep reach Belalp , finally via the stone serpentines of Steigglen . There the sheep shed in a Färrich takes place on the following day , where every Natischer breeder gets his animals back. The arrival of the sheep is accompanied by many spectators and a folk festival that follows.

In the past up to 2000 sheep were herded, in the last few years it was 700 to 800.
