Schönfeld (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schönfeld was a village in the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide area in Saxony-Anhalt . The place has been considered desolate since the Middle Ages .

However, a fountain remained until modern times. In the 19th century, the residents of the village of Salchau , located approx. 2.5 km to the north-east, used the Schönfeld fountain in cases of water shortage.

With the creation of a military training area from 1936, Salchau also became a desert. The area of the former Schönfeld village center also became part of the practice area.
