The Schöttel wreath is a one out of wood in the form of ring -made coasters , can be placed on the containers with hot food on the table.

In the past it was one of the common household items in the rural areas of the Magdeburger Börde , but its use was already less common in the first half of the 20th century. Use has also been documented for the Braunschweig region . Historically, the delicately crafted Schöttel wreaths were often carved by village shepherds.
