School sponsors Germany

Student Sponsors Germany is a non-profit initiative that mediates 1: 1 educational sponsorships between volunteer sponsors and students with a history of migration. The initiative currently consists of six local organizations and an umbrella organization.

history

The first location was founded in 2009 in Berlin. Following the model of the Berlin location, further locations were later established in Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg, Bremen and Dortmund. In 2012 the school sponsor Dachverband e. V . created to establish the concept in other cities and to coordinate the work of the locations.

School sponsors Berlin e. V. is a member of the Berlin child sponsorship network.

Awards

School sponsors Berlin e. V. won a startsocial award in 2013 and was the overall winner of the social startup pitch in 2016 under the patronage of Brigitte Zypries. The school sponsor Dachverband e. V. was named the winner of the Google Impact Challenge in 2016. In February 2017, Schülerpaten Berlin e. V. has been awarded the TechStories 2016 Prize by Microsoft and Stifter-helfen.de.
