The bowl stone is a sandstone monolith and is located about two kilometers north of Fischbach near Nuremberg . The rock is designated as geotope 574R005 and a ground monument.

The bowl stone is a large sandstone monolith in the sandstone Keuper region of the Middle Franconian Basin . The dimensions of the rock are about ten meters in length and width and about five meters in height. There are smaller caves and several bowl-like depressions in the rock. The name of the rock comes from its bowl-shaped depressions, which are partially filled with water after rain.

history

The striking rock formation probably had cultic significance in prehistoric times. Today the rock is used exclusively for recreational purposes, which has left its mark.

The bowl stone is freely accessible all year round. It is easy to reach from Fischbach on foot or by bike.
