Shaking pump

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A shake pump is a pump used to transfer liquids.

It is based on the principle of communicating tubes and has a check valve at the suction point. By shaking the suction piece with the check valve, taking advantage of the inertia of the liquid to be sucked in, it is gradually transported into the hose connected behind the suction piece until the liquid column tips over, i.e. the downward-facing end of the liquid column is heavier than the upward-facing end of the Column of liquid is. The liquid is now driven by the gravitational force that acts on the two columns of liquid (upward column and downward column) and only has to overcome the flow resistance at the check valve and in the hose.
