Sheep pin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sheep's needle or reduction needle is a needle used by hosiery makers . The term is derived from Swabian creativity for work. It was invented in the early 18th century.

The needle was used to knit the shape of the leg in stockings after the foot part. Depending on the size and fineness, there could be more than 25 needles that were stuck into the knitting chair by stitches. The sheep's needle was similar to a sewing needle with a small wooden handle at the end of the needle eye and a slightly curved needle point. The needle- nose pliers were used to straighten bent sheep needles .
