The Shah Abdol Azim Shrine ( Persian شاه‌عبدالعظیم) is a Shiite shrine in Rey , approx. 15 km south of Tehran . This place of pilgrimage is the tomb of Shah Abdol Azim , a descendant of Hasan ibn ʿAlī , the son of ʿAlī ibn Abī Tālib , the fourth caliph. Abdul Adhīm al-Hasanī died in the ninth century.

The site consists of a main portal with access to various courtyards and a mosque.

Extensions were made during the Bujid period and major repairs were carried out during the Safavid period . The dome was gilded in 1835 during the time of the Qajars on the instructions of Nasreddin Shah . Several Islamic figures are buried there, including Nasreddin Shah who was murdered on the site.

The first railway line in Iran , the Tehran-Abd-al-Azim Railway , connected Tehran with the place.
