Michael Gottwald (* around 1983 in Richmond (Virginia) ) is an American film producer who was nominated for an Oscar in 2013 .

Life

In 2005 Michael Gottwald worked as a second unit director on the short film Egg . He then appeared as a film producer. In 2012 he was the producer of the documentary Tchoupitoulas . In the same year he was responsible for the fantasy drama Beasts of the Southern Wild with Dan Janvey and Josh Penn as a producer . This drama received a nomination for Best Picture at the 2013 Academy Awards . The film, which has already received an AFI Award for Best Picture of the Year, was also the directorial debut of Benh Zeitlin , who received two Academy Awards nominations.

He is currently the producer of the comedy Ping Pong Summer , starring Susan Sarandon and Lea Thompson .
