Schaidberger marble

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schaidberger marble occurs on the Schaidberg in Obertauern in Austria . It is a fine-grained, highly translucent ( translucent ) marble . It can be white but also yellowish.

The mining area was level with the Radstädter Tauern Pass on the southern ramp of the pass in Schaidberg. It was a small quarry in which this marble occurred, which is described as a yellowish platy occurrence.

The Schaidberger marble was already used by the Romans, especially for the milestones of the Lungau Roman roads, which were set at the time of Septimius Severus .
