Switching distance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term switching distance comes from sensor technology and describes the distance that is necessary so that the object to be detected can influence the sensor .

Contactless sensors can detect different substances without having to (physically) touch the sensor itself. Nevertheless, the substance or object to be detected must be at a certain distance and angle from the sensor so that a measured value can be output.

Depending on the sensor type and the material to be measured, switching distances of up to several meters can be achieved.
